Cha-Cha-Changes

Cha-Cha-Changes

Change is the law of life.  And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. ~John F. Kennedy As we jump feet-first into 2011, there are a myriad of things that will surly change. New policy-wonks are getting into place in Congress and at the state and local levels so lawmakers are already busily planning for new laws and regulations. If you happen to be apathetic about politics, this is where you can see the rubber hit the road with real changes made by the people we vote (or perhaps don’t vote) into office that will undoubtedly change our lives. Some new laws passed in 2010 that go into effect in 2011 include: senior citizens on Medicare will be able to get free wellness visits and some other free preventative care, Social...

How To Stop Time

How To Stop Time

We know winter brings shorter daylight hours and longer nights, but does it seem to anyone else out there like the days speed by in a blur this time of year? An hour goes by in a minute, and it feels like the first morning cup of coffee is barely swallowed down and suddenly it is time to make dinner. Is anybody else looking into the setting sun and checking another box off the calendar while asking themselves, “What happened to this day?” With this going on, it seems impossible to take some time for oneself for a treat like an hour massage or other healing therapy such as Reflexology, Shiatsu or Hypnotherapy. However, if you consider the idea of stopping the spinning time machine and blocking one hour out of the day for yourself, you will in effect be...

Getting In the NOW

Getting In the NOW

There is something undoubtedly magical about this time of year.   The northern hemisphere of the earth begins an amazing transformation.  You can feel nature begin to hunker down and prepare for the oncoming chilly air and frosty ground.  Like an expectant mother in the last trimester of pregnancy, she draws herself in and curls around the precious seed buried beneath it’s nurturing vessel, protecting it from exposure that might potentially hinder it’s imminent future emergence when the soil becomes warm again.  Daylight hours diminish and the days begin to feel like they are speeding by.   What a miracle it is to stop and take a moment to notice the change in climate, the metamorphosis of the season and simply feel the time of year. Another...

Sharing Success Stories

Success stories serve an amazing purpose.  When people share their personal experiences of striving for and then achieving their goals, it not only encourages others to follow their own dreams, but proves that it can actually be done. As SWIHA’s video producer, I recently had the honor of interviewing four graduates of Southwest Institute of Healing Arts who shared their own success stories. They can be seen and heard in a video on SWIHA’s YouTube channel—swihatv.   The four inspiring testimonials were all given with open hearts and a clear vision of supporting others to follow their own destined paths. Here’s a snippet: Shelly is a Yoga Instructor who graduated from SWIHA’s YTT program in 2006.  She teaches yoga in a variety of...

Manifestation and the Power of Positivity

There is something pretty amazing about SWIHA. If you have been here before, you are probably thinking ‘well…yeah, you are just realizing this now?!?,” but you can also probably remember the moment you had the same “ah ha” realization, and for me that moment is now. Nearly 3 months ago, when my journey first began with SWIHA, I began to feel a real change happening. Being exposed to such positive energy all-day everyday really does seem to have an impact, but even before I became aware of this positive influence, on some subconscious level I think it began to work. My real moment of clarity came when talking to our Hypnotherapy instructor Linda Bennett about manifestation and the fact that we can control our thoughts, phobias and...
