Activate the Law of Attraction with a Vision Board of Your Own

It is never too late to set your Intentions and Desires for the new year!  So, are you open to creating your own Vision Board?

What is a Vision Board?

A Vision Board (also called a Treasure Map or a Visual Explorer or Creativity Collage) is typically a poster board on which you paste or collage images that you’ve torn out from various magazines.  It is a simple, but very powerful visualization tool which activates the universal Law of Attraction so you can begin manifesting your dreams into reality!  Basically, the law of attraction states that we attract into our lives anything that we give attention to, regardless whether it’s negative or positive.

Why would I create a Vision Board?

The idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, where you want to live, or where you want to vacation, your life changes to match those images and those desires.

A VISION Board adds clarity to your desires, and feeling to your visions.

How will I create my own Vision Board?

We will start the workshop with a meditation to help guide you to your own word theme for your Vision Board.  Finding a word that resonates with the direction you are heading, holding that one word in your mind throughout the year and letting this word guide your actions.

Join a Vision Board Workshop, brought to you by Elaine Shannon…Empress of Inspiration!

Join Elaine Monday, January 23, 2012 at 3pm (Pacific time) on her Ustream channel, to participate in this Live Online event!  www.ustream.tv/channel/elaine-shannon-the-empress-of-inspiration

During the workshop you will search in magazines to find the visuals and words that bring that ‘Word’ to life for you in 2012.  For instructions and a supply list needed to complete your 2012 Vision Board, please visit Elaine’s website at:  www.elaineshannon.com/vision-board-workshop

For Virtual attendees, please have a large size board, plus a variety of magazines for the pictures and words.  Scissors, tape or glue and a sense of adventure and excitement about the coming year are also needed.

I am no longer cursed by poverty because I took possession of my own mind, and that mind has yielded me every material thing I want, much more than I need. But this power of mind is a universal one, available to the humblest person as it is to the greatest.” ~ Andrew Carnegie, famous industrialist

Happy Vision Boarding and Manifesting what you really want!  :)  Students in the Life Coaching program at SWIHA also use vision boards as a useful tool to Manifest your desires. ~ Blessings ~

Intention Setting and Organization for Self Growth in 2012

If you have not already done so, or would like to re-evaluate what goals you have set for 2012, let’s go there, shall we? Notice the word ‘Resolution’ was not used.

Resolutions can oftentimes end up in failure. In the words of Anthony Robbins, the founder of the coaching movement, “Resolutions only require words, Results require ACTION.” To take this a step further…right action combined with right Intention will help you achieve sustainable Goals while developing new habits and healthy behaviors.

So what does all of this have to do with de-cluttering and getting organized?

  • De-cluttering is to remove clutter from.
  • Organizing is to arrange in working order

As you look back at 2011 identify the areas of your life that you are not satisfied with. These areas could include; relationships, health, fun & recreation, money, personal growth, career, your physical environment and spirituality.

Ask yourself why you are not happy with the particular areas.

The annoyances that you have identified in each area identified is clutter! It could be the physical clutter that is there for you to see every day and is a cause of stress for you and your family, perhaps it is conversations with people that leave you emotionally drained, maybe it is the volunteer activity that you are still doing for all the wrong reasons that takes up too much of your valuable time. Clutter is clutter…in your space, in your time in your life.

Now look forward to 2012…

A clean slate, 365 days to live a life with right intention. Now look at the areas of your life again. How do you want them to be? Be specific, write it down. For example a resolution would be to lose a specific number of pounds, which by the end of January has already lost its luster and you are right back to your old habits.

Setting the right Intention would sound like this… “In 2012 I will be mindful of when I eat, how I eat, why I eat, what I am eating and how much I am consuming so I can have more energy and feel better.

This shift from a static number in the resolution to the imagery of intention setting activates the parts of the brain that support long term success. Stephen Covey says in the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People “Begin with the End in Mind,” in other words putting the elements of your life into working order.

You are now going beyond a resolution; you are setting the right intentions for the New 2012 Year.

Now go and take that clean slate and set intentions for your best year ever. What are the areas of YOUR life that need de-cluttering and organizing?

This brings us to the next area of foucs – O R G A N I Z A T I O N! Organization is the Foundation of all Growth.
There is a shift happening and part of the shift is a sharing of philosophies and thoughts on living an optimal life.

On the path of Self Growth there are many layers of beliefs and ways of thinking and being that are peeled away to reveal the true self. The layers involve elements from the past and present that affect how you move forward into the future you are dreaming of.  One of the layers that hold many people back is disorganization and excess of clutter.

Organization is the foundation of all GROWTH.

This is something that all the great philosophers and spiritual teachers know and live by. In their work the answers are there if you are ready to hear the lesson…when the student is ready the teacher arrives…and yes, without clutter.

In the book Change your Thoughts Change your Life, Dr Wayne Dyer interprets the Tao Te Ching. Dr Dyer shares an interpretation that for the rest of the world makes this 5,000 year old teaching by Lao-tzu very easy to absorb. In the 77th verse it says…”when it is surplus, it reduces; when it is deficient, it increases.”  It is asking us to put surpluses back into the world to decrease deficiencies that exist elsewhere.

Think about what you have too much of that you can share.

Is your home overflowing with things that are no longer useful or beautiful to you? Do you have an excess of time in your schedule that you can share in a meaningful way, like volunteering at a local school? Do you have an abundance of love and energy that is ready to be shared?

People who practice Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese system of aesthetics, will tell you that eliminating clutter is the most important first step in bringing peace, serenity and simplicity into your life.

If you want simplicity and peace then you need to create an environment that supports that desire.

By eliminating the things in your life that are no giving you energy but taking it away, you will open up space for things, people and events that will bring great joy and energy.

In his book Harmonic Wealth, author and teacher James Ray asks “what are you surrounding yourself with?” The universe loves order …a chaotic external world is a reflection of a chaotic inner world.

Are you living in a swirl of chaos?

If clutter and disorganization are an outward sign of stuck energy, then now is the time to have a close look at where the chaos shows up in your life. This clutter can show up in your home as an excess of stuff, in your office as too much paper, schedules that are overflowing and cause great stress, or in relationships that have run their course however you keep hanging on.

By freeing up space in your home, calendar and life you are allowing space to exist. The moments between are the ones that are needed the most, however, they also cause the greatest fear.

In order to receive any more into your life you have to let go of what is no longer serving you.

Clean out what no longer serves you so you can make space for opportunities and possibilities.

SWIHA Announces the 2012 Toe Reading Conference: Honoring People’s Past Experiences

The art of Toe Reading is on the rise, as it is being learned and practiced worldwide.  For anyone interested in learning or rediscovering Toe Reading, SWIHA invites people from around the world to attend the upcoming “Toe Reading Conference 2012: Honoring People’s Past Experiences” January 28 and 29, 2012.

Founder of Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA) in Tempe, Arizona, KC Miller, is the Master Toe Reader behind Soul Speak™, a new technology for healing the past and learning how to step into one’s own destiny.  She says that “beautiful transformations will often be witnessed right before your eyes as a Toe Reader.”  KC will introduce her new vision of “Soul Speak” at this event held at 1100 E. Apache Blvd in Tempe, Arizona 85281 (SWIHA). More Toe Reading speakers will include teachers, Cheryl Speen, Kaye Coleman and others.

For those who may not know what Toe Reading is, per their website, www.beatoereader.com, “the power of Toe Reading is SO much more than what people expect! This New Age, transformational modality is used to help people explore and honor their life paths – all the way down to their very souls/soles! Toe Reading is based on the theory that the body holographically records the stories of our lives. Thus, the toes depict what one’s journey has been like.

Principles of Toe Reading:

  • Your internal-self is displayed in your left foot and your outer-self is displayed in your right foot
  • The position and shape of the toes say a lot about their owner and the energy in one’s body
  • By observing someone’s toes, you will know a great deal about their past and the experiences they have lived through
  • Toes reveal how a person copes with their feelings, as well as their thoughts

Toe Reading derives from the documentation that everything that happens in one’s life, the story and the emotions, are stored as cell memory. Thus, it is believed that your toes and feet may just reveal the most.

KC Miller asks, “Are you ready to become a Toe Reader?”  She expands:

This powerful modality is really Soul Coaching; so, you are actually a Soul Coach,” not just a toe reader!  Teaching people to ‘hold sacred space’ and truly appreciate the path they have walked is one of the most powerful things you can do in this world.  As a Toe Reader and Soul Coach, you commit to being in the world to help others do the same.  When you give yourself permission and you realize your value, others will too!  The Soul Speaks – listen to it!

Making Friends In Your Later Years

One of Southwest Institute of Healing Arts‘ wonderful life coaches,  Richard Seaman was the professional advice behind this article, written by Ashley Macha, from AZ Central.  Here is some helpful information we would like to share on behalf of Richard, who so graciously volunteered to offer his professional life coaching advice to all. :)

How important is friendship at any age?

Friendships create a unique, safe place for us to be ourselves and more importantly to have a place we can be seen, heard and know that what we have to say matters to someone else – there is a witnessing of another person’s life.  I once heard it said that relationships are the classroom for the Holy Spirit, meaning that having relationship at any age is what prepares and helps us understand ourselves, and how to fit into the world.

Does it become even more important as we age and our social life downsizes?

As you age, nature begins to take its course and unfortunately people move on by getting married, having kids, move to different cities or even die in our lives. Those of us who are left behind may feel a sense of abandonment or had a calling to move on with our lives are now faced with the possibility of recreating ourselves.  We used to be able to call a friend who we have known for many years to go have some fun.  Then one day we look up and realize our circle of friends and family have downsized.  This is where stretching ourselves into uncomfortable will be necessary for us to cultivated new friendships.  The Internet is a great way to find like-minded individuals for outings and social events that are aligned in what you like to do.  It is important to create new relationships because the opposite side of this could show up as isolation.

What do you think is the hardest thing about making new friends as we age? What about keeping old friends?

The older we get, the more life experiences we have had.  Some of the things we experienced may have not always been the most pleasant.  Many people who I have coached in my practice tell many stories, but the most common story is the one about, “I don’t trust people.  I let myself be seen and I became vulnerable and I was burned in the end.”  Yes, this is more than likely a common thread, which runs through most people’s lives.  However, we have to come into each and every new friendship with a clean slate.  If we drag our old stuff into new friendships, then we come into them carry the energy of – I don’t trust you.  You have an energetic fortress, a moat with a drawbridge that can be shut and slammed closed the minute we get scared or threatened.  We are asking the people in our lives to climb over our walls and to prove to us you can open up and trust them.

What specific tips can you give to someone looking to make new friends or get in touch with old ones?

1) Volunteer somewhere that makes your heart happy, brings you joy, and leaves you feeling good about what you did for the day – did you make a difference?  When you’re happy, you’re releasing positive, attractive energy and people will be drawn to you.

2) Get a pet from the human society or dog pound and start walking daily with him or her.  Go to the local dog parks, or start walking in your neighborhood.  Pets have a way of teaching us how to have unconditional relationships, and people are more aped to talk to you when you have a pet or even a baby.

3) Take a class you have always wanted to take, but were too busy or afraid to take.  Dance, yoga, Spanish, cooking cuisine, wine tasting classes?

4) Become involved in a community event or charity that lights you up and you have a real passion for.  When you are being proactive and doing something you love and believe in, you are demonstrating positive, healthy, attractive energy and people than are drawn to you.

5) If you have the desire to re-cultivate old friendships, Facebook.com and Linkedin.com are amazing ways to find old friends.  The best part about these social media websites is once you find one or two friends, they have a built in system, which sends you friend suggestions of people you may know.  This helps you find people you may have totally forgotten about – what a surprise!

How would you suggest people make friends if they are immobile don’t know how to use a computer or cell phone or are low on cash?

Network and make friends with friends of friends, think of what is of interest and find activities to match – a church group, a choir, a talk at the library, activities at schools, etc.  People are everywhere – make yourself available.  Volunteer somewhere – not only meet new people, but also add experience to your resume.  Wherever you go – smile, say hello and start a conversation.

If immobile, use the Internet!  If you don’t know how to use a computer or cell phone, you can be taught.  If you have no money, go out and volunteer somewhere.  You’ll meet people doing that, it costs you nothing, and you’ll feel good helping someone else.  If you have a dog, visit a dog park.  If you have children, mingle at the playground.  Each month a newsletter comes in the mail for each city; view the articles and see what is nearby that month.  You can find a lot of great volunteer opportunity with free events and shows that way.  I make new friends all the time.  How?  Socialize everywhere you go and talk to people, say hello and just talk.

On the other side, what are a few tips for people who have too many friends?

It is ok to sometimes just use the word “No.”  I love you, but right now I really need some “me time.”  If you have a harder time saying no, then see it has creating healthy boundaries.  Friends are wonderful, but if we are always giving to others then what is left at the end of the day for ourselves?  The lesson here is to find balance and moderation in our relationships.  Then when we come together again we are full, whole and ready.

What is some advice for them to juggle friends, work, family, etc.?

We have to realize how important it is to have balance in every part of our lives.  If we are spread too thin we are unable to be good for anyone else.  We end up showing up in our relationships as drained, overwhelmed, tired, and not fully present with those people who mean the most to us.  We have to put ourselves first, nurture ourselves with enough sleep, eating balanced foods, exercise, mental and spiritual practices i.e:  yoga, meditation, coaching, counseling, church.  Love ourselves enough to take care of us first.  It’s sort of like when you’re on a plane and the flight attendants announcement says, “Please put on your own mask first before assisting others.”  If you need to save someone else you will need air first – right?

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for Massage, Skin Care and Mental Health

On behalf of SWIHA Success Center, we thought it would be nice to share some current statistics with you, just in case you are curious as to where you, or the industry you are interested in, currently stand!

Massage Therapists

  • Personal care services - A small increase is expected due to an increasing number of dedicated massage clinics in the personal care services industry.
  • Offices of chiropractors - A small increase is expected as massage therapy and bodywork are integrated into wellness treatments.
  • Hotels (except casino), motels, and all other traveler accommodations - A small increase is expected as more hotels offer massage therapy services.
  • Fitness and recreational sports centers - A small decrease is expected as fewer sports centers employ massage therapists.

Please understand that we do NOT train “Counselors;” we provide solid ground in Hypnotherapy Training & Life Coaching Training as growing career paths.

Mental Health Counselors

  • Outpatient mental health and substance abuse centers - A small increase is expected as these workers are preferred over more expensive psychologists.
