Bio:
Phyllis was recognized as the successor to her grandmother and Master, Hawayo Takata, in 1982. She is the fourth lineage bearer or Grand Master in the line of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, practicing and stewarding the form of practice, Usui ShIki Ryoho. Since 1982, she has traveled the world supporting the students and masters of Reiki sustaining the simple practice that was left to her and 21 other masters. Her insights into the mystery of the practice and its effect on the individual student’s life are practical, accepting of the unknown, and inspiring . Now, after her own transformative experience with breast cancer, Phyllis is wanting to spend time with students who seek entrance into the vast potential of Reiki, the energy and the practice. “Touching the Essence of a Reiki Practice”
The essence of our connection to Reiki lies in acknowledging the ancestral line of masters and getting to know them as inspiring people, in acknowledging the miracle of our daily practice, and in renewing our connection to the context of our practice in this time/space of 2013. Through power point presentations, sharing of her experiences and observations, and responding to questions from the rest of the circle, present, Phyllis will extend her energetic connection with Reiki, the energy and her practice.

***Ann Linda Baldwin, PhD*** | 10:45AM-12:15PM
Bio:
Ann Linda Baldwin, PhD, is Director of Mind-Body-Science and offers people Reiki and Biofeedback sessions and training to help them reduce the deleterious effects of stress on their mind and body. She is a Reiki Master, and has practiced Reiki on people and animals for the last 12 years. Dr. Baldwin is Editor-in-Chief of the Reiki-in-Hospitals project to critically evaluate and summarize all scientific studies to do with Reiki that have been published in peer-reviewed journals. She is also a Research Professor of Physiology at the University of Arizona. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Physics from University of Bristol, UK, her Masters degree in Radiation Physics from University of London, UK and her PhD in Physiology from Imperial College, University of London. Ann’s research focuses on evaluating the efficacies of Reiki and other forms of complementary medicine in reducing the physiological effects of mental and emotional stress. She has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has been a member of several review panels for National Institutes of Health. With her Reiki training and extensive scientific background, Ann bridges the gap between energy healing and quantitative scientific enquiry. Speaking Topic:
“Insights into Reiki from a Scientific Perspective”
As a scientist I like asking questions. How can I measure the beneficial effects of Reiki? What type of problems is Reiki best at healing? What happens to you when you send Reiki? What sort of energy is Reiki energy? This presentation will be aimed at trying to answer those questions. First you’ll learn about published scientific experiments that highlight the areas of medicine in which Reiki has been proved to be most effective. You’ll also see how Reiki is being used successfully in hospitals. Next I’ll present some of my own newly published research about what happens to Reiki practitioners’ physiology when they practice Reiki on themselves, and I’ll also reveal some brand new unpublished research on clinical effects of Reiki. Finally you’ll hear about the current theories of how Reiki works and evidence (or not) for those theories. I hope to stimulate many more questions about Reiki that we can use science to answer.

***Nate Whitten***
Bio:
Nate Whitten, realized his life purpose in the 1993 as he began his spirit-led journey through formal education and a career path as a minister within a mainstream, evangelical, church denomination. He quickly began creating contemporary and progressive new ministries in several churches and eventually took on the role of pioneering a brand new work. After seven years of successful ministry, Nate’s life took a dramatic turn which left him feeling spiritually abandoned and hopeless. Although he didn’t realize it at the time, he was not alone. Seeking a connection to spirituality, Nate found it through Numerology, which helped him rediscover the Source of love and compassion. Studying this ancient art or intuiting and connecting to energy with the symbols of numbers, Nate was once again refreshed to his life purpose and began a second education of the spiritual, as a student at The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Nate’s confirmation of the unchanging connection of Love during his second Reiki attunement solidified his now permanent place in fulfilling his destiny. Reiki is Energy. Numerology is the study and intuiting of energy. Using Numerology to identify energy fields, patterns, or dis-eases, a Reiki treatment can be enhanced to most effectively assist others and self in manifesting healing.

Workshop:
“Personal Reiki Symbol Workshop”
Each person has their own personal Reiki symbol that is unique to them and vibrates with their personal frequency. These symbols are powerful and transformational. During meditation participants will encounter their symbol on the causal plane and bring it back to the earth plane. After drawing the symbols on paper, the group will be led into a second meditation to retrieve the symbol’s sacred name. Each participant will then be attuned to their personal symbol. These symbols can be used in healing sessions with self and others. Please bring drawing paper and pencils.

Rev Renee Morgan Brooks is synonymous with Spiritual Energy made manifest! Whether singing, speaking, teaching or just walking in the room, her Presence is warm and palpable. Renee has prepared hearts and minds to receive Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Neale Donald Walsch and Gary Zukove.
